Derrick Y. McDaniel (Mr. Eldercare 101™) has created Caring Hearts NYC Inc. (CHNYC) which will open and operate Adult Daycare Facilities in New York City. Mr. McDaniel has decided to expand his home care operations Caring Hearts of New Jersey (CHNJ) to a state of the art Adult Daycare facility in NYC. Based on the experience and successes of CHNJ, an established and well respected senior services company in New Jersey, Mr. McDaniel has developed a successful philosophy and formula for working with the Elderly. CHNYC will bring the same philosophy of caring for both clients and their families to its New York businesses that made CHNJ one of the most highly rated home care companies in the Northern NJ market.
Older Americans consistently express their desire to stay in their own homes and communities as they age. It has been repeatedly proven that those who do so comfortably and independently experience better health outcomes. Yet, despite the health and economic advantages to society, many older adults are forced into expensive residential programs-typically nursing homes-which are not medically necessary and are counter to both their, and the general public’s best interest. Caring Hearts NYC Inc., will build and operate Adult Daycare Centers which have been consistently shown to help millions of older adults live safely, independently and comfortably in their homes and communities as they age. This is commonly known as “aging in place”.
The goal of Mr. Eldercare 101™ is to provide an essential community service in the form a modern, multi-service Adult Day Care facility that will support the underserved borough of Brooklyn, NY. The newly created center will provide a comprehensive scope of services to the Elderly residents of this borough and be a vital piece of the areas’ continued resurgence.
Adult Daycare Centers (ADCs) have been recognized as an important component of the community-based service delivery system that helps delay or prevent nursing home placement and the need for other more costly, yet preventable services, while providing vital assistance to the older person with cognitive and/or physical impairments. Simultaneously, ADCs support informal &family caregivers by providing them a safe, local, temporary, and affordable caregiving option for their loved ones. A place where Seniors can receive assistance-thereby allowing the informal &family caregiver time to work, rest, or tend to other personal obligations. These caregivers are an invaluable resource for their loved ones and play a primary role in helping them to remain independent and avoid more intensive, thus more costly residential care. AARP estimates that the value of informal &family unpaid care, if purchased at market rates, would be about $25 billion per year. CHNYC will be a strong partner in the state/city’s efforts to provide needed services to BOTH the elderly and their family caregivers.
Mr. Eldercare 101™ and Caring Hearts NYC™ will provide structured, comprehensive programs that provide seniors and functionally impaired individuals with socialization, supervision, monitoring, personal care, and nutrition in a protective enriching setting.
